Rutile is a mineral primarily composed of titanium dioxide (TiO2). It is the most common natural form of TiO2. Mainly utilized as a raw material for manufacturing chloride titanium dioxide pigments, it is also employed in the production of titanium metal and welding rod fluxes. Rutile possesses exceptional properties such as high temperature resistance, low temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high strength, and low specific gravity. It finds wide applications in military aviation, aerospace, navigation, machinery, chemical industry, seawater desalination, and other fields. Rutile itself is an essential raw material for high-end welding electrodes and serves as the optimal raw material for producing rutile titanium dioxide. Its chemical composition is TiO2.

The sand we offer undergoes meticulous processing using advanced technological machines. In addition, the provided sand undergoes rigorous examination based on various quality parameters to ensure its compliance with industry standards.

Product Information

Rutile is a mineral composed primarily of Titanium Dioxide, (TiO2). Rutile is the most common natural form of TiO2 and an important constituent of heavy minerals and ore deposits. Titanium dioxide pigment is the single greatest use of titanium worldwide.

Technical Details

Category: oxide minerals. Formula: TiO2. Colour: reddish brown, red, pale yellow, pale blue, violet, rarely grass-green, black if high in Niobium (Nb) and Tantalum (Ta). Common impurity: Fe, Nb, Ta.

Main Applications

The main uses for rutile are the manufacture of refractory ceramic, as a pigment, and for the production of Titanium metal. Rutile is widely used as a welding electrode covering. It is also used as a part of the ZTR index, which classifies highly weathered sediments.

We are producing and supplying the following rutile types:

Rutile sand (TiO2 95%)
Rutile sand (TiO2 92%)
Rutile sand (TiO2 90%)
Rutile sand (TiO2 87%)
Rutile sand (TiO2 85%)
Rutile sand (TiO2 83%)

Rutile sand typically varies in purity depending on specific production processes and extraction methods, but generally, high-quality rutile sand should have a high TiO2 content, typically above 90%. Even higher purity rutile sand may reach TiO2 content of 95% or higher.

As for its application scope, rutile sand finds widespread use across various fields, including but not limited to:

  1. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment production: Rutile sand is a primary raw material for titanium dioxide pigment, which is a crucial white pigment used in paints, plastics, paper, rubber, and coatings.
  2. Welding electrode coatings: Rutile sand is commonly used in coatings for welding electrodes to enhance welding quality and stability.
  3. Cosmetics: Due to its high transparency and excellent covering power, rutile sand is utilized as a pigment in cosmetics such as foundation, eyeshadow, etc.
  4. Rubber and plastics: Rutile sand serves as a filler and reinforcing agent in rubber and plastics, improving their mechanical properties and appearance.
  5. Ceramics and glass: Rutile sand can enhance the strength, transparency, and gloss of ceramics and glass products.
  6. Other industrial applications: Rutile sand is also used in fields like dyes, electronics materials, coatings, pulp, and paper.

Due to its high purity and versatility, rutile sand finds broad application across industrial and commercial sectors.
